Just how unaffordable are California electric rates, now the second highest in the nation behind Hawaii? In total, there are more than 2.2 million customers in arrears between the state’s three main IOUs, owing more than $1.8 billion.
- PG&E alone has more than 1 million customers in arrears – about 18% of its total, owing more than $675.
- SCE has almost 884,000 customers in arrears, or 19% of its total, owing on average more than $1,000.
- SDG&E has nearly 313,000 customers in arrears, roughly 23% of its ratepayers, who owe an average of $821.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Policymakers need to get serious about the state’s worsening affordability crisis!
